PATTAYA

Pattaya

Pattaya is Thailand’s most popular tourist resort. The city of free manners, vibrant nightlife and good shopping.

Who fits:

  • young people;
  • lovers of active recreation;
  • tourists who are ready to sacrifice a beach holiday in favor of an extensive program of excursions;
  • families with children (yes, if you stay somewhere in Jomtien and properly think through interesting activities for children (in Pattaya, a lot of children’s entertainment), you will not be disappointed);
  • tourists who prefer a budget holiday.

Transfer from the airport:

65 km from Bangkok, the transfer takes 2-2.5 hours.

What to see:

  • The largest and most beautiful botanical park in Southeast Asia, Nong Nuch with many themed gardens, original sculptures, theatrical performances, a mini zoo and a collection of original cars;
  • Incredibly beautiful Temple of Truth — the tallest wooden structure in the world, and built without a single nail;
  • temple complex Wat Yang, located nearby the Thai shrine of Khao Chi Chan, where the cut of the mountain with plates of pure gold lined with a 130-meter image of Buddha, and the chapel, which keeps the footprint of the Buddha. After climbing 300 steps you will get rid of 300 sins and have a wonderful view of Pattaya;
  • Thailand’s largest open zoo Khao Kheow, where almost all the inhabitants can be fed and stroked;
  • Big Buddha Hill, where you can cleanse the karma, to part with accumulated sins and get a charm from a monk, and is located on the nearby hill Pratumnak observation deck. We advise you to come here at sunset — so you can capture Pattaya in the light of day and when the lanterns are lit.
  • The largest water park in Asia Ramayana, with state of the art pools with different wave strengths, cascading waterfall, river with a current, rafting and more than 50 slides.
  • For those who are not afraid of hours of travel, from Pattaya it is convenient to go to the ancient city of Ayutthaya, which in the 18th century was considered the largest on earth, in the province of Kanchanaburi on the legendary river Kwai and to visit the unique temples in neighboring Cambodia.

Beaches:

The beaches of central Pattaya do not provide the opportunity to enjoy a beach holiday, but if you choose a hotel in the south of Jomtien or in the Naklua area, the sea can be quite suitable for swimming. If you want azure sea and scenic views, go to the nearby island of Ko Lan, Military Beach, Sattahip or the town of Bang Saray.

Shopping:

Pattaya’s largest shopping mall Central Festival, brand shoes and clothing sales at Mike Shopping Mall, Royal Garden Plaza with a fighter jet diving into the building, the biggest night market in Pattaya on Thepprasit Street.

Features of the resort:

well-developed public transport system, active nightlife, is unlikely to suit fans of solely beach holidays, a variety of excursions, milder climate than on Phuket.

PHUKET

Phuket is 25 times larger than Pattaya, but significantly inferior to it in terms of entertainment. People come to Phuket for the amazingly clean and warm sea, natural beauty, romance and relaxation.

Who fits:

  • families with children;
  • young people;
  • the elderly;
  • beach lovers;
  • tourists who prefer a measured vacation.

Transfer from the airport:

Depending on the location of the hotel on the island, the transfer can take from half an hour to 2 hours.

What to see:

  • The statue of the Big Buddha on Mount Nakked, which offers a wonderful view of the southern part of the island. Here there is a gong that «sings» at the touch of those who are pure of heart;
  • The most visited Karon observation deck with a panorama of three beaches: Kata Noi, Kata Yai and Karon;
  • Cape Prom Thep lookout, come at sunset — get incredible beauty pictures;
  • Thais say, «Who hasn’t seen Wat Chalong, hasn’t been to Phuket» — so visit by all means. Among other things, you can predict your future there by numbers from tin boxes and get a blessing from a monk.
  • Monkey Hill — an opportunity to communicate with monkeys and enjoy the scenic views of Phuket Town.
    The beauty of the Andaman Sea can be enjoyed by going from Phuket to the islands of Phi Phi, James Bond Island, Similan, to the picturesque provinces of Krabi and Phang Nga.

Beaches:

White sandy beaches with turquoise water for partying, for holidays with children, secluded for relaxation — everyone will find a beach to his liking.

Shopping:

Patong’s main shopping center Jungceylon with a fascinating quest zone, the 5-level Central Festival with 250 stores under one roof, Outlet Mall, Talad Naka weekend market, reminiscent of Bangkok’s famous Chatuchak market.

Features of the resort:

Phuket harmoniously combines the possibility of active entertainment in the nightclubs of Patong and enjoy the beach holiday; almost no public transport; almost everything is more expensive than in Pattaya.

RAYONG

RAYONG
Rayong beach

Rayong is an increasingly popular Thai province located 60 km from Pattaya. A great option for those who prefer a budget holiday, but do not want to deny themselves the turquoise sea and a good beach.

Who fits:

  • elderly people;
  • families with children;
  • romantics;
  • diving enthusiasts, who will appreciate the picturesque coral reef near the shore;
  • Those who prefer beach oblivion;
  • all those who are shown recreational procedures with thermal and mineral waters, the local springs — a rarity in Thailand;
  • tourists who prefer a budget holiday.

Transfer from the airport:

Distance from Bangkok airport 220 km, prepare for a long transfer, taking more than 3 hours.

What to see:

  • The oceanarium, called «aquarium» for some reason, located in the fishing village of Ban Phe;
  • Khao Chamao National Park — jungle, picturesque cliffs, limestone caves and waterfalls. Recommended for fans of trekking, well, or just hiking;
  • Pa Pradu Temple with a rare statue of Buddha, which lies not on the right side, as in most cases, but on the left;
  • the observation deck on the picturesque cape of Wang Kaew, located 38 km from the city;
  • Samet Island, according to Wikipedia: «The largest of a small group of islands close to the shore,» which can be accessed from the Ban Phe pier. Nothing particularly interesting you will not see there. There are a lot of tourists, especially on weekends. After Pattaya, Samet might seem like a paradise, but if you go from Rayong, you won’t be impressed.

Beaches:

Sandy, ideal for recreation with children and not only — there is a shallow clean sea and shallow entrance to the water. The coastline is more than 100 km. And it is not very crowded.

Shopping:

The huge Laemtong shopping complex. That’s pretty much all we can tell you about shopping in Rayong.

Features of the resort:

Sun, air and water — that’s what people come to Rayong for. And also to taste the freshest seafood caught by fishermen from the neighboring village.

HUA HIN

Hua Hin - the oldest resort of Thailand
View of Khao Tao beach and fishing boats

Hua Hin — the oldest resort of Thailand, it is often called the «royal», but not because of the high cost of recreation, but because for many years the King’s family vacationed exactly in Hua Hin. Wealthy Thais also prefer to rest at this resort.

Who fits:

  • families with children;
  • the elderly;
  • lovers of relaxed and quiet rest;
  • connoisseurs of original Thai life.

Transfer from the airport:

Hua Hin is 200 km from Bangkok airport, expect to travel 3.5-4 hours.

What to see:

  • The mega-popular Vana Nava Water Park, Central Asia’s largest water park with extreme water activities for adults and a jungle zone for children;
  • One of the main and free attractions in the suburbs of Hua Hin — Khao Luang Cave complex, inside which there is a temple with a statue of the reclining Buddha;
  • The centrally located Wat Neerancharama temple, with the world’s largest statue of a six-armed Buddha;
  • Hua Hin Safari & Adventure Park where you can ride horses, elephants, or quad bikes, watch an elephant show, or play paintball in a well-equipped area;
  • The Teak Royal Palace with an exhibition of the interiors where King Rama VI lived;
  • entertainment park Santorini, styled as the Greek island of the same name. To enter the park you need to buy a «visa to Greece» — that’s the name of the entrance ticket. The amusement park is combined with a small water park and shopping center — a great option for those who are trying to combine entertainment and shopping.

Beaches:

The pride of Hua Hin — an excellent 5-kilometer beach, the entrance to the sea — shallow, the water in the absence of waves — the cleanest. We recommend visiting the beach near the mountain Takiab with gray volcanic sand.

Shopping:

Hua Hin’s only full-fledged Hua Hin Market Village, the entertainment park market Huahin Floating Market, the retro market Plearnwan, styled as the 1950s — here you can find cute things in the spirit of those times, although modern goods can also be found.

Features of the resort:

well developed system of public transport, most coastal hotels often do not have their own beach or access to the beach.

SAMUI

The island-resort of Koh Samui

The island-resort of Koh Samui in recent years rivals in popularity with Phuket. Here everyone will find a holiday to his liking: tired of the vanity — relaxation and peace in a tropical paradise (north coast), party people — active nightlife, focused on Chaweng (east coast), fans of active recreation — the opportunity to dive, windsurfing, parasailing (parachute flights behind the boat) or swimming on aquabikes.

Who fits:

  • young people;
  • families with children;
  • elderly people;
  • Scuba divers — Samui is famous for its beautiful corals and rich underwater life;
  • lovers of active recreation;
  • amateurs of relaxed and quiet rest.

Transfer from the airport:

Depending on the location of the hotel, usually from half an hour to an hour.

What to see:

  • The statue of the Big Buddha with an observation deck at the foot of the temple with a spectacular view of Pangangang Island;
  • Wat Khunaram Temple, where the body of the abbot of the temple, who was mummified more than 50 years ago, is on display;
  • The statue of New or Standing Buddha, located at an altitude of 645 meters, the way here is not easy, but the panorama from the highest point of the island will overshadow all the hardships of extreme climbing;
  • Paradise Park with pigeons of all colors of the rainbow (how do they paint them?), tame guinea pigs, rabbits, monkeys and baby deer — all can be fed and stroked;
  • Coco splash, a water park for young visitors, and Pink elephant, a modern water park for adrenaline-seeking adults.

Beaches:

The longest and most beautiful beach on the island of Chaweng with soft sand and turquoise waves, surfers favorite beach Lamai, many small secluded beaches.

Shopping:

The ubiquitous Central Festival in Chaweng, Sami Mart in Nat Khone, and night markets in Lamai and Chaweng, for those who want to feel the Thai color.

Features of the resort:

From Moscow flight only with connections, due to the location of the island sunrises are ideal to meet on the eastern beaches, and the sunsets to spend — in the west.
